Okaaaaayyyy....
The House Leader’s role is to attempt to secure Opposition’s support for the government’s legislative agenda. That requires negotiating skills and the ability to compromise.
I never thought Stevie was all that smart, more cunning, without the hampering nature of a conscience to get in his way, but this appointment seems beyond stupid. Unless, of course, it’s that lack of conscience and respect for Parliament kicking in:
However, by putting such a divisive politician into the job, the Prime Minister may be signalling he wants to push full-steam ahead on his agenda this sitting.
Goodale, who will have to work with him since he’s Opposition Leader is keeping an open mind. He says it depends what persona Baird brings to the table.
That, I think, will be chosen by Harper, not Baird. My guess is we are in for more CON bullying.
