Shame

Really?...

Really?...

When we carry sacred items, we carry them with the recognition that everything in Creation has spirit, including the animals and plants, the rocks, the water, moonand the stars. Even one feather of a bird has spirit. When we carry a feather in our bundle and use it for our personal prayers and in ceremony, we are calling on the spirit of that bird for help and guidance...The eagle is one of the ones who are closest to the Creator because he can fly so high and he spoke for the people...You earn an eagle feather and you have to live by it.

This is wrong.  Very, very wrong.  Worse than giving Conrad Black the Order of Canada.  It makes a mockery of a great honour.

This guy recognizes the value of all of nature?  This guy speaks for the people?

Brothers and sisters, wake up.

I find it interesting that a petro-friendly First Nation would bestow Harper this honour. http://narpllc.com/?p=55

The parent company of Native American Resource Partners is Houston based Quantum Energy Partners. http://www.quantumep.com/content.cfm?currentID=1956&parentID=1749

The only reason the Chief gave was that Harper had spoken the apology over the Residential School travesty.

I wonder how closely the PMO propaganda staff worked with the Blood Tribe First Nation to set up this ceremony? Did the press release use the racist term "war paint"? Did they suggest that an Afghan vet have the honour of participating in the ceremony?

Perhaps I am a tad too cynical but if this was about the residential school apology why so little information about how that came about and why it was crucial. Why not more info about the reconciliation process and where it stands today? Why no mention that Harper chose not to renew the Residential Healing Fund?

Instead there's a para devoted to the bombing that injured the Master Corporal. Plus, the fact that she had a baby a year later for good "family values" props.

Truly appalling.

I heard that about the oil friendly bit but couldn't find the link, so thanks for that.

The war thing - every chance steve gets. Warrior nation and all that. I'm sure you're right in that steve coordinated the ceremony to a large degree - like he does most things. Scary.
