OK

Good:

Liberal MPs and senators will return to work as scheduled in the nation's capital later this month, even though Parliament has been suspended until early March.

Even better:

Still, Liberals want to avoid anything that might be dismissed as a partisan stunt. To that end, insiders say there'll be no mock Parliament or banging on the padlocked doors of the House of Commons.

Just show up quietly, wioth dignity, show how it should be done.

While the second quoted passage is a good idea in practice, I'd think the Libs should be careful how they phrase their intentions. The Cons will claim that anything they do is a "partisan stunt" - and the more they use the same language, the more likely it is that public attention will focus on that concept rather than on the Cons' absence.

Yup, I think this is exactly what each party should be doing. Treat harper as though he is irrelevant.

Question a few witnesses surrounding the detainee issue, and watch the cons heads explode.

for sure it can be just another circus if not handled properly, and yes, it is mainly symbolic but sends a powerful message. So does that facebook site, so do all the letters to the editor, e-mails, etc.

I hope the Libs can maintain self-control through this action.

Sure would be nice to have some BLOC and NDP members show up. Have them all work together, give us a glimpse of how things should be. If they can pull it off and things run smoothly, it would really point to where most of the problems come from when the House sits: the CPC lack of respect for proceedings.

My MP (a dipper) sent me an email right after prorogation (I had sent him one expressing disgust at the action), and he said that they will continue to "do the work they were elected for." I'm not sure if that means they'll be showing up, but I hope so.

evening, morning! (heh)

If they are visible, vocal, and doing more than slamming Stevo, I'm all for it. I still think the opps should show a common front as much as possible, without, of course, violating their basic party beliefs, for want of a better word.
