Holy Corrupt Government, Batman!

Damn!  What a couple of weeks!  Even some stevie fans are starting to grumble.

Let’s drag the cesspool and take a look:

Bill C-30 and Towes’ raves

Bill C-10 continues to make no sense

Seniors can go fuck themselves 'cause they're jut a useless burden and why the hell should we give them money they paid into retirement?
Nicholson wants to bring in the wild, wild west

Airshow MacKay ignores the Public Service Act – again – and uses DND as his personal shit throwing monkey

From fake lakes to fake immigrants and the resurgence of fake Elections Canada calls

Chris Paradis hands out favours to buddies at our expense while putting many people out of work

Tony-sides-with angels-clement is still a monumental moron

Flaherty lies one way then lies the other (or he’s using that broken crystal ball again)

Brian Lilley tries to justify his existence while avoiding top stories that could make Vic and Pete cry and force young CONbots to sing to steve outside his Sussex home and pathetically revives an old story, writing pretty much the same error riddled thing three days in a row.  (because, you know, French people and visible minorities are a whole lot much more scarier than a government that muzzles public servants and scientists, seeks to spy on us at will, denies our very democracy by fixing elections)

And Beloved Leader?  Well none of it is his fault, of course.  Probably Michael Sona just got carried away.

And Parliament wasn’t even sitting this week.  I have a feeling more than a few CONsorts will be putting in serious overtime this weekend.

Are the CON-bots broken?

Nope.  It's an article with "Clement" and "transparency" in the title.  Comments: 136.  Not a one praising or defending harper or gazebo.

"Clement seeks ‘culture change’ on government transparency"

...Mr. Clement acknowledges the criticisms directed at his government when it comes to openness, but says he hopes Wednesday's announcement will serve as a signal to all government officials that the Conservatives are serious about a “culture change” in favour of transparency.

OK, so government officials need to know that the CONs are serious and we the public are being told this as well, so next time a Parliamentary aide oversteps and blocks an ATIP request, or a Minister interferes or flat out refuses to provide information,  if it can't be blamed on the public servants, the CONs can get Poilievre to not-respond to questions on his party's lack of transparency by blathering on about this particular move.
That's like a driver up on charges for a hit and run DUI saying, "but Your Honour, I constantly lecture my neighbours on safe driving and I don't understand why the prosecutor doesn't do the same."

So harper and his intestinal parasites are keeping secret files on us?

It’s a rhetorical question prompted by this latest sleeze from the CONs –

Michel Dorais, an independent member of the internal audit committee overseeing the AG’s office resigned in protest over the appointment of a unilingual AG.

The announcement hit the news today around noon.  Within a couple of hours, the CONs attacked Dorais in the House.

Dorais letter is dated November 1, 2011 and states copies are being sent to the media.  It isn’t clear when the CONs got the news, but by this afternoon, Tony Clement (the guy who served nearly 50 million in pork to favourites in his riding under the pretense the funds were for the G20 – when the entire G20 in Cannes cost only28 million h/t Dammit Janet), the same guy who for months has blocked all attempts at coming out with the truth of how the pork recipients were selected, went on to attack a public servant who acted according to his commitment to serve the public.

At theconclusion of question period, Clement tabled documents in the House showing that in 2009 Dorais donated to former Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff.  "I certainly make no allegations of the partisan leanings of the individual. I simply find that the House should be informed of these facts," Clement said.

Oh?  Care to explain why?  Gazebo boy is obviously trying to imply that Dorais only acted as he did because he secretly works for the Liberals.

That’s a very harmful and dangerous implication, and utterly ridiculous.  It more than suggests that anyone who makes a donation to a party cannot make any decision or perform any action without those decisions or actions being partisan-driven.

It also sends a bullying message to people who donate to parties that should they cross the ruling party, they had better not donate to any other party or they could be publicly attacked.

Furthermore, Gazebo’s actions – sanctioned by steve no doubt – send another chill to damage the already cowed public service.  Shut up, or face our very public attacks.

And how the hell did clement get the donation info so fast?  Especially when he can’t even find paperwork of 50 million spent in his own riding?

How can we trust that public servants will act on our behalf when they are constantly threatened by the ruling party?

The referenced article mentions a letter Dorais wrote as an opinion piece in 2008, expressing his concern that the current CON party does not understand the function of the public service and the negative effects this could have.  Unfortunately, the quotes presented in this article fail to show the overall tone of the letter.  It is courteous, even complements the conservatives on some points, and offers adice rather than condemnation.  To get a sense of what kind of man Dorais is, and to see how ridiculous Gazebo’s implications are, read the letter infull.

But anything that isn’t fawning, or coming from brownnosed sycophants is considered an attack by our paranoid great leader, so it’s no big surprise that there was information conveniently available on Dorais.

Clement the Coward
I know there are sociopaths in the world.  I know there are liars, scumbags, self-serving pieces of bloody rabid dog diarrhea who have no care for how their actions affect others.  I know there are people who are almost entirely devoid of conscience and feel no shame.  I know some of those people go home and hug their kids every night, teach them about morals and ethics after a day of lying and harming others, and I’m sure they see their face as they brush their teeth and feel no remorse or shame.

But I still find it hard to grasp how they pull it off.  How can Clement say "I believe I'm on the side of compassion and on the side of the angels,"  then lie and unjustly attack innocent people?  How can someone who, for all appearances, cares about raising his kids as decent, ethical people, deviate so far from decency himself?  What kind of switch does such a mind have?

I can’t fully understand a mind like that, but I know they exist, and I know we need to expose them because they are so very harmful to others.
And I wanted to keep the blogging light tonight...

Boo-hoo-fucking-hoo.

Mr. Clement said he is well aware of what is being said about him. He acknowledges it’s “not fun.”  “I know I don’t have very many allies in the media on this. I’m kind of alone out here,” he said.

Gee, that’s too bad.  You’re religious though, aren’t you Tony?  So take heart, this is probably all part of your god’s plan, everything happens for a reason and all that.

This is probably your god’s way of saying “Tony done a bad, bad, thing.”

Lying,  setting innocent, well meaning people up for a fall, mis-using your position for personal and party gain...I believe your god does not approve of those things.

Maybe he’s also trying to teach you about the harm you do to others by letting you see what it feels like to be under constant attack.

But you’ll never quite get it, because those you helped set up  and destroy were telling the truth,  simply trying to do their jobs with dedication.  Unlike you and the other Harperites who lie and destroy others for personal gain, for your party, for your mortal master, and for your narrow ideology.

Have your angels abandoned you as well?  When I went to Catholic school, the virgin penguins told me the angels are very sad when people lie and turn their backs on us.

The penguins were also very fond of saying “you shall reap what you sow.”

So try to get the message.  It’s part of your god’s plan: what you’re going through now is what you had planned for Munir Sheikh and the folks at Stats Can.  But Sheikh wouldn’t take on your lie.  You own it.  Wear it.

Oh yeah.  Last bit of advice.  Don’t try to ride your camel through the eye of a needle unless you turn both cheeks.  Just thought I should point that out.

An aside - if someone chooses to flaunt their religious beliefs in public for political gain, then those beliefs are fair game in the public domain.

Entropy : a function of a system's tendency towards spontaneous change

So that’s what harper’s ideology is based on.

Entropy and the census:

Back in mid-July the long form sucked because it generated bad data :
PMO spokesman Dimitri Soudas suggested the census generated bad data, noting in a widely circulated e-mail that “21,000 Canadians registered Jedi knight as a religion in the 2001 census.”

July 13, 2010, the long form sucked because it was intrusive and applied heavy-handed tactics:
"I think that government forcing people, threatening to put people in jail if they don't tell the government how many bathrooms they have is a bit heavy-handed, and a bit ridiculous frankly," (Baird) said in Ottawa.

Yesterday, August 5, 2010, the long form didn’t suck anymore, in fact was quite good:
“Yeah, there are groups that are upset. … Hey, listen, they had a good deal going,” Mr. Clement said Thursday following a meeting with fellow MPs in Ottawa.  “They got good, quality data and the government of Canada was the heavy.

August 5, 2010, the long form is still great, but once more uses heavy-handed tactics which Harperites want no part of:
Mr. Clement, however, said Ottawa no longer wants to act as data collection enforcer for statistics users. “It worked for them. Doesn't mean it worked for other Canadians.”

August 5, 2010, who the hell needs it anyway?:
“All these provincial governments and these social institutions and private businesses – we’ll get them some data that will be useful and reliable,” (Clement) said.

Great!  Useful and reliable.  From the HarperCONs.  Like this useful and reliable data upon which the decision has been made to spend 9.1 billion taxpayer dollars on unreported criminals:

If you ask, is there unreported crime in Canada, there’s unreported crime, there’s no question about it,” Nicholson (said)…“I get anecdotal evidence and there are certainly some studies on that.”

Wow!  Anecdotal evidence!  Think of the cost savings!

Finley can go hang out in the Market in Ottawa, and for the price of a pack of cigarettes and a little pocket change, she can gather reams of anecdotal evidence on the need for adult literacy programs, job training, transitional programs for people who lives have suddenly been shot to hell.

Leona Aglukkaq can join her (just need one Parl. Assistant handing out cigarettes that way) to get plenty of anecdotal evidence on the need for rehab centres, safe injection sites, half-way houses, temporary shelter.

Prentice can borrow a fishing rod from Scott Reid and go hang out with the natives on the Wabigoon River system catching fish no one can eat while they swap anecdotes.

Oh, this could add up after all.  A better solution to collecting useful and reliable evidence at low cost with little to no intrusive methods would be to send a few MPs with their Parliamentary aids to hang out where the real Canadians go.  The place where common sense is found.  Tim Horton’s.

Wait…still to expensive.  All those Parliamentary photographers…

Got it!  Create a new Ministry, the Ministry of Truth.  Put Max Bernier in charge.  Hell, if he can get useful and reliable info on the long form by receiving over 1,000 e-mails without even asking for input, just think – think what he can do if he’s on a mission!  And if anyone is worried about their personal anecdotal information getting into the hands of a hot biker chick with ties to the Mafia and Hell’s Angels, don’t worry.  Maxie doesn’t print out the e-mails.  He doesn’t even save them.  But he remembers each and every one.
Then Maxie can call whatever Minister may be interested, pass on the useful and reliable info, and the said Minister can make changes that affect all our lives.  Over the summer, of course.  When the House isn’t sitting.  Cheaper that way, and really, average Canadians just aren’t that interested in how their tax dollars are spent, or how their lives will be affected by sweeping changes.

If any of you need any further convincing, just think of the savings:  we could get rid of all researchers, planners, strategists, policy makers, and legal teams from all departments.  That would mean far less support/admin. Staff, and barely a handful of HR staff.  Communication staff?  Why pay those assholes!  Since PCO has to vet every piece of communication they produce for the public as it stands now,  just get PCO to make the products from the start.  In fact, we could get rid of PCO altogether and have the lot done by the PMO!!!!

This is very exciting.  I can’t wait to stop at Timmie’s on the way in tomorrow and gather useful and reliable information so I can put together a portfolio and apply for a job with the PMO.

Care to help a fellow blogger with a few anecdotes?

No bounds to their arrogance and dismissal of the public’s will.

The Conservatives appear unfazed by the criticism (over prorogation), however, with Industry Minister Tony Clement saying Monday that ordinary Canadians don't consider prorogation to be a big issue.
"It may not be what the chattering classes want, but we're not here to govern on behalf of the chattering classes," he said.

So according tho Clement, people who engage in political discourse and exercise their democratic right to voice their opinions are chattering classes, just annoying background noise.

They are also, according to sides-with-angels-Tony, elites.  Definition: the best in a particular society or organization.  Gee, thanks, Tony!  If the chattering classes are really the best, maybe you should side with them just a little.

Conservatives: working hard at re-defining Canada and Canadians in their dumbed-down image.
