So harper and his intestinal parasites are keeping secret files on us?

It’s a rhetorical question prompted by this latest sleeze from the CONs –

Michel Dorais, an independent member of the internal audit committee overseeing the AG’s office resigned in protest over the appointment of a unilingual AG.

The announcement hit the news today around noon.  Within a couple of hours, the CONs attacked Dorais in the House.

Dorais letter is dated November 1, 2011 and states copies are being sent to the media.  It isn’t clear when the CONs got the news, but by this afternoon, Tony Clement (the guy who served nearly 50 million in pork to favourites in his riding under the pretense the funds were for the G20 – when the entire G20 in Cannes cost only28 million h/t Dammit Janet), the same guy who for months has blocked all attempts at coming out with the truth of how the pork recipients were selected, went on to attack a public servant who acted according to his commitment to serve the public.

At theconclusion of question period, Clement tabled documents in the House showing that in 2009 Dorais donated to former Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff.  "I certainly make no allegations of the partisan leanings of the individual. I simply find that the House should be informed of these facts," Clement said.

Oh?  Care to explain why?  Gazebo boy is obviously trying to imply that Dorais only acted as he did because he secretly works for the Liberals.

That’s a very harmful and dangerous implication, and utterly ridiculous.  It more than suggests that anyone who makes a donation to a party cannot make any decision or perform any action without those decisions or actions being partisan-driven.

It also sends a bullying message to people who donate to parties that should they cross the ruling party, they had better not donate to any other party or they could be publicly attacked.

Furthermore, Gazebo’s actions – sanctioned by steve no doubt – send another chill to damage the already cowed public service.  Shut up, or face our very public attacks.

And how the hell did clement get the donation info so fast?  Especially when he can’t even find paperwork of 50 million spent in his own riding?

How can we trust that public servants will act on our behalf when they are constantly threatened by the ruling party?

The referenced article mentions a letter Dorais wrote as an opinion piece in 2008, expressing his concern that the current CON party does not understand the function of the public service and the negative effects this could have.  Unfortunately, the quotes presented in this article fail to show the overall tone of the letter.  It is courteous, even complements the conservatives on some points, and offers adice rather than condemnation.  To get a sense of what kind of man Dorais is, and to see how ridiculous Gazebo’s implications are, read the letter infull.

But anything that isn’t fawning, or coming from brownnosed sycophants is considered an attack by our paranoid great leader, so it’s no big surprise that there was information conveniently available on Dorais.

Clement the Coward
I know there are sociopaths in the world.  I know there are liars, scumbags, self-serving pieces of bloody rabid dog diarrhea who have no care for how their actions affect others.  I know there are people who are almost entirely devoid of conscience and feel no shame.  I know some of those people go home and hug their kids every night, teach them about morals and ethics after a day of lying and harming others, and I’m sure they see their face as they brush their teeth and feel no remorse or shame.

But I still find it hard to grasp how they pull it off.  How can Clement say "I believe I'm on the side of compassion and on the side of the angels,"  then lie and unjustly attack innocent people?  How can someone who, for all appearances, cares about raising his kids as decent, ethical people, deviate so far from decency himself?  What kind of switch does such a mind have?

I can’t fully understand a mind like that, but I know they exist, and I know we need to expose them because they are so very harmful to others.
And I wanted to keep the blogging light tonight...

Another excellent post. I had not heard about the Dorais resignation and subsequent public thrashing at the hands of Clement. How Clement behaved is another new low from the Contempt Party. How the hell did he get Dorais' campaign contribution information? If he got it from the Canada Revenue Agency, that is illegal. Divulging any information submitted on a tax return is against the law unless ordered by a federal court. And I can't see the LPC providing Clement with that info.

You're right about what their message is - confront or even question us and you will face attacks and humiliation. Everyone I know working for the federal civil service are extremely nervous, depressed and/or furious.

I hear the same from public servants, and the take-over of their communications sections is very alarming.
